Off The Wall Gifts began as Off The Wall Ideas, a specialty advertising business focused on promoting it’s clients with flare. In the early days, we utilized traditional and new products to grab attention at corporate functions and expos. Over time we noticed a disconnect between concept and implementation.
Our remedy was simple…provide both product and it’s placement to ensure objectives for our clients. Our founder, Val Wilson (Emerson College’94) decided to go back to her roots and employ the same strategy used in the television industry. Camera shots/angles of crowds embellished with sponsor logos that would provide additional brand exposure and awareness for the advertiser. This is not a new idea, but one that could be adapted with an “off the wall” approach. In 2001, on a suggestion from Val’s husband Mike, Off The Wall fired up the crowd of NBC’s Today Show for the popular segment, “Where In The World Is Matt Lauer”, with branded Globe Beach Balls and Binoculars. Off The Wall Gifts was born, and for the last 14 years we have been decorating television audiences on a variety of sets and locations. We enjoy entertaining and inspiring the fans that hope to catch a glimpse of a celebrity, or perhaps get their few seconds of fame on national television. We apply the same television approach at any event we do….engage the crowd, and get products in their hands.
In 2009, we produced gift bags for a celebrity wine dinner featuring Dan Aykroyd. It was a wonderful experience, so we decided to throw our hat into the ring of “celebrity gifting”. Later that year, we established a relationship with The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and began producing gift bags for their Emmy Award Ceremonies. Off The Wall also assumed the responsibility of producing their backstage talent gift lounges. We are enjoying the world of gifting, and also produce swag for press junkets, fundraisers, and even private parties.
